Several weeks ago the Department Commander tasked the Department Judge Advocate and myself to come up with a plan to allow for the continued operation of the Department of New York if the Federal and State restrictions on gatherings was to remain in place thru our election season. The attached Temporary Regulation #1 is the product of these efforts and will take effect today April 5th 2020 and remain in effect until such time that the Federal, State and local restrictions are lifted.
Never in the history of our organization have we faced a
crisis of this magnitude and it is vital that you as a member of the
American Legion in New York read this regulation and understand it
completely. After a conference call
discussion today by the members of the Executive Committee I called for
the vote by the voting members, of the 18 voting members all present
(10) approved and a phone call to the remaining 8 produced 7 approvals
and 1 no answer.

to thank Commander Mike McDermott and Judge Advocate Pat Falvey for
there input and devotion to duty in putting this together. We are in a
very challenging period of our lives but we will
get thru this and it will make us stronger.
