Department Raffle
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many
Detachment activities have been put on hold. Many members have not been
able to participate in the annual Department Raffle. It has been decided
that the drawing will be held at Department Convention set for1st, 2nd
and 3rd, October 2020. By doing this, as this pandemic passes, we are
hoping that everyone will have more time to participate in the
Department Raffle.
Each Detachment is entitled to a 20%
Commission per ticket ($2.00). Please take your share of the ticket
sales before returning to our Raffle Chairman, Marine Tina Olsen. You
can send the sold ticket stubs, and the Department share of the proceeds
to:
Tina Olsen
17 Allen Court
Staten Island, NY 10310
If you have questions, or wish to request more tickets, you can reach Marine Olsen at (718) 447-0264, or via email at mommao615@gmail.com.

From National Headquarters: Detachment Named In Honor Of
Marines,
Please pass to your detachments.
We started another segment to the magazine as a tribute to
detachments. In each issue of Semper Fi, we would like to know more
about a detachment’s namesake. There are so many really cool detachment
names in our League and our readers may not know what was special about
the person that moved the detachment to honor their name.
We are looking for about 400 words, photos are great (high resolution), professional background, personal stories, etc.
If we are flooded with them, we would use more than one per issue. Presently, only a couple have been submitted.
The next one will be needed not later than July 17, 2020.
This is certainly not a mandate. Just a good opportunity to tell a story in honor of the person your detachment is named after.
