Marines,

It is a with a heavy heart that on June 25, 2020, United States Marine Corps Corporal Eric L. He leaves behind a legacy of service to his country and love for family, especially his beloved daughter Leah Bellamy, age 11 and Leah's mother and Eric's dear friend, Amy MacLeod. He is also survived by his mother Mary Maysonet and three brothers, Ray, Marco and Matthew Maysonet, his best friend and "brother" Joe Burt and his Marine Corps brothers of "Hotel 3/12". Eric was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Emily and Charles DeWette.

Born in Paterson, NJ, Eric enlisted in the United States Marine Corps after graduating from high school. He served as a combat veteran and attained the rank of Corporal. After receiving his discharge he relocated to Binghamton where he worked for many years as a carpenter and later began his final career serving other veterans by working at the Binghamton VA Center helping veterans secure their benefits. Eric served as Commandant of the John W. Thurston Marine Corps League in 2018. He was also honored by the Broome County Legislature in 2018 with the "Veterans of Distinction" award.

He enjoyed camping and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his daughter. They enjoyed playing video games, going to movies and attending the Renaissance Fair.

Eric and his family were deeply appreciative of all the love and support provided to him and them during his illness. The family especially wishes to acknowledge the nursing staff on South Tower 5 at Wilson Hospital for the wonderful care they provided Eric during his hospitalizations.
