American Legion - 2021-2022 Department of New York Elections

Legionnaires, Sons of The American Legion and Legion Riders,

Temporary resolution # 19 (see below) is nearing the end of its effectiveness and the time for Post, County, District, Squadron and Chapter elections will soon be upon us. Please refer to your C&B for guidelines on when and how to conduct them. Please observe all State and local Covid 19 restrictions regarding gatherings, if necessary, Zoom or conference call meetings are acceptable some posts have expressed a desire to have walk thru or drive thru elections and as long as sufficient time is allotted to vote and adequate notice is given it will be allowed. Due to the uncertain status of the Department Convention, I am asking that any Districts that normally hold their elections including Department Vice Commander nominations at the Department Convention to hold them beforehand. The Department Judge Advocate is currently reviewing our procedures to hold the election of the Department Commander and will propose an alternative to our standard method should the Covid 19 restrictions regarding gatherings remain in effect. If you should have any questions, please feel free to email or call me at Department headquarters.

James W. Casey

Department Adjutant
