Semper Fidelis Memorial Park

While the Museum remains temporarily closed, the Museum grounds, including Semper Fidelis Memorial Park and the playground, is open for visitors. The Park is home to Semper Fidelis Memorial Chapel, more than 30 memorial statues and pathways lined with engraved paver bricks – all to honor the service and sacrifice of our military, their families and friends.

Museum Blog: The M60's Last Hurrah

Read more about Genesis II, the M60 tank that crossed the berm at the Kuwaiti border on G-Day, 24 February 1991--the day the ground offensive component of Desert Storm began.

The Genesis II will anchor our future Desert Shield/Desert Storm exhibit in the "Forward Deployed" gallery of Final Phase.

Macro Artifact Movement: LAV and MATV

Earlier this month, crews moved the Museum's Light Armored Vehicle (LAV) and OEF battle-damaged Mine Resistant Ambush Protected All-Terrain Vehicle (MATV) into their locations within their Final Phase galleries. The vehicles will be mounted on their stands later this month.

Tour the Museum Virtually

Visitors can still safely enjoy the Museum experience through our virtual tour. The virtual tour immerses Marines and civilians from around the world in the Museum experience using interactive features. Be sure to enable Flash on your web browser to view the panoramic pages. The virtual tour does not yet include some of our latest exhibits, so be sure to make plans to visit the Museum in-person when it reopens to the public.

Marine Corps History

24 February 1991: On this day, the ground campaign for Operation Desert Storm begins before dawn, with Marines attacking toward Kuwait City through Iraqi obstacle belts. It lasted a mere 100 hours.

Included in this Museum album are artifacts that will be on display in the future Desert Shield and Desert Storm exhibit. These are just a few of the artifacts included in the collection that tell the history of the Gulf War.
